EastEnders regains Serial Drama crown at NTAs 2025
EastEnders has won the Serial Drama gong at the 2025 National Television Awards.
The award win saw the long-running British soap reclaim its crown after losing out to ITV’s Emmerdale last year.
At tonight’s NTA ceremony, live from London’s O2 Arena, it was announced that the general public had voted the beloved BBC soap as this year’s winner.
As well as knocking Emmerdale off the top spot, EastEnders beat soap rivals Hollyoaks, Coronation Street and Casualty.
A flood of cast and crew members from EastEnders stepped on-stage to collect the award and celebrate the win.
Accepting the award, Patrick Trueman actor Rudolph Walker said: “Let me especially thank the viewers for voting.”
He described the team behind EastEnders, including the cast and crew behind the camera, as “the happiest family on television”.
“It is indeed a very happy and together family, and the evidence is what you all see on the screen.
“All I can say on behalf of this fantastic family is… watch this space,” he teased.
The Serial Drama trophy wasn’t the only award the hit BBC soap won at the ceremony.
EastEnders star Steve McFadden also took home the Serial Drama Performance award earlier in the night for his role as Phil Mitchell on the iconic soap.
