Yellowstone might be over for now, but Taylor Sheridan sure isn’t. Yellowstone‘s creative force has over 10 series in production or development at Paramount. One of those is Landman.

Adapted from a popular podcast, Landman stars Billy Bob Thornton as Tommy Norris, a crisis manager for an oil company. The series also starred Demi Moore, Andy Garcia, and Jon Hamm.

 

 

Here’s what we know so far about the Landman Season 2 cast, release date, plot and more.

Set in the proverbial boomtowns of West Texas, Landman is a modern-day tale of fortune seeking in the world of oil rigs. Based on the notable 11-part podcast “Boomtown,” the series is an upstairs/downstairs story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires fueling a boom so big, it’s reshaping our climate, our economy and our geopolitics.

 

 

Who’s in the Landman cast?
As is the case with just about every Taylor Sheridan series, the Landman cast is a star-studded affair including several Oscar nominees/winners. Here’s who we know so far will be joining Sheridan’s newest Paramount series.

Billy Bob Thornton (Tommy Norris)
Critically acclaimed actor and breakout star of the 1996 movie Sling Blade, Billy Bob Thornton leads the series as a crisis manager for an oil company. Thornton won an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for Sling Blade.

 

 

Thornton had a cameo appearance in the Yellowstone prequel series, 1883. It was there he had conversations with Sheridan. Those conversations led to Landman, which Sheridan wrote with Thornton in mind. Thornton spoke to Parade about it exclusively, “It’s very rare that somebody writes something specifically for you and your voice. I was very happy about that and it kind of fit like a glove.”

And if he could switch places with any other character on the show? Thornton easily replied, “Dale, who’s played by James Jordan. He has a very funny character and I always enjoyed watching James play that role. And early in my career, If this had been 30 years ago, that’s probably who I would have been playing!”

Demi Moore (Cami)
Demi Moore plays Cami, the wife of Monty (Jon Hamm), a powerful oil baron who is friends with Tommy Norris. Moore is best known for her roles in St. Elmo’s Fire, G.I. Jane, and Ghost and was recently nominated for an Academy Award for her work in The Substance.
