It will see the iconic shows merge into Corriedale for one special episode.

Now it’s been revealed that Emmerdale’s Aaron Dingle [Danny Miller] and Coronation Street’s Lisa Swain [Vicky Myers] have started filming for the crossover.

In a statement, Danny said: “I am made up that Aaron is in the Corriedale episode.

“Originally from Manchester, Coronation Street has always been an iconic show in our house just as much as Emmerdale. So to cross them both over is a great idea.”

And Vicky said: “When I read the script and found out how two worlds collide, who is involved and how the characters interact, not to mention the impact the events of the night will have… Wow. It’s going to be unmissable.”

She added: “I couldn’t wait to get started actually.

“This has been in the pipeline for quite some time and the talented team behind the scenes at Coronation Street and Emmerdale, has worked tirelessly to make this happen. They’re incredible.”

ITV chiefs have filed an application with the government’s Intellectual Property Board to ringfence the name to stop bootleggers using the title.

The legal papers for permission to use the name to market: “Entertainment; entertainment services; entertainment services in the form of television programmes, cable, satellite and Internet programmes; production and presentation of television programmes, shows, films, videos, DVDs and Optical storage discs.”

Lawyers at the department are yet to rubber-stamp the application.

A rep for Corrie told The Sun: “There are no plans for any further crossover episodes beyond the special episode of Coronation Street and Emmerdale which is launching ITV1’s new scheduling pattern for the soaps in 2026.

“The trademark application is to protect the brand now that the name is in the public domain.”
